A BIT

A Passionate Educator

ABOUT ME

Through a lifetime dedicated to making the joy of music and piano accessible to everyone, I have developed my unique method of piano teaching unlike anything else you will find.

I was very fortunate to study at Juilliard, learning the piano technique that I incorporate into each and every lesson. How to move your hand a little this way, a little that way, and all of a sudden, it sounds professional. The easy and effective way to hold your fingers, which most people who have traditional lessons never know. Your arms never hurt. Your fingers listen to you. They never get tired. Expression easily pours from your fingers. The pieces get better and better. Confidence builds.

I learned to teach from my students, seeing what they need. I've made up a way of teaching so that every student, even at their first lesson, goes home playing a song they know and like. Each week the student, youngest to oldest, learns a new part of a song or starts another one. We learn these songs the way music is created, by looking at the keyboard, not a bunch of notes on the page. We will learn to read notes, but not for quite some time. After all, people learn to speak by looking at each other, and their world. Not by studying letters.

People never play with just their fingers. Music comes from deep within. From the soul. This is one of the reasons that music matters so much to everyone. It's one of the reasons that people tend to be nervous when they play for someone else. People are playing their deepest feelings and emotions. Without words. Communicating with their heart and soul.

This is why I'm so passionate about giving the gift of music, using my skills and talents to teach piano in a fun, effective way that is unbelievably easy and accessible to everyone.
